Hello Kitty Birthday Cake- 159B

 Hello Kitty Birthday Cake- 159B

Our 3year old granddaughter wanted a Hello Kitty birthday cake. Grandparents instantly go into baking mode. I made cake #23, a basic dense yellow cake. For the frosting I made Cristo frosting, which holds up great in heat and is dairy free. It also makes a whiter frosting, which creates a better canvas for decorating, where as buttercream frosting makes more of an off white colorIf too sweet add a bit of salt.

My husband decorated the cake. He is amazing!

Frosting Ingredients:

1/2 c. Crisco

1 T. Vanilla

1/8 tsp. Salt

4 c. Powdered sugar

1/4 c. Water

  1. Place Crisco, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl.  Beat with mixer on high until light and fluffy.
  2. Switch mixer to low and alternate adding powdered sugar and water until the ingredients are completely blended.
  3. Beat on high speed until the frosting is smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
Makes enough to decorate 18 cupcakes or13x9 cake.
Store unused frosting in a sealed container and refrigerate for up to 3 months.
Results : I really like this frosting  it’s easy to make and spreads nicely.
Bottom line: This will be my go to frosting for cake decorating.
