Hazelnut Blondies- USA #28
Basic Blondies are a comment bar cake, like brownies. So, I decided to try a different version using hazelnuts. This version is a rich, sweet dessert bar/cake, made with brown sugar, hazelnuts and chocolate Nutella.Ingredients:
1/2 stick (4 T.) unsalted butter, plus more for pan2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1-3/4 c. packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/3 c. hazelnuts, toasted, skins rubbed off with a kitchen towel and chopped.
1 heaping T. (I used 2) chocolate hazelnut spread, such as Nutella, plus more for serving
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Butter an 8x11" baking pan. Line with parchment paper. Butter parchment.
- Whisk flour baking powder and salt.
- Melt butter. Beat butter and sugar until combined.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Add flour mixture and stir until combined.
- Stir in hazelnuts and Nutella.
- Press dough into pan.
- Bake until firm in the center 35-40 mins.
- Let cool 15 mins., if you can.
- Serve with additional Nutella on top of each piece.
